2205 KV2300 Brushless Motor – High-Speed Motor for Racing Drones, Quadcopters, and Small Fixed-Wing Aircraft
Overview:
The 2205 2300KV brushless motor is a compact, high-RPM outrunner motor designed for multi-rotor racing drones (like FPV quads), crossing aircraft, and lightweight fixed-wing planes.
Key Specifications:
- Model: 2205 (22mm stator diameter, 5mm height)
- KV Rating: 2300KV
- Voltage: 2S – 4S LiPo (7.4V – 16.8V)
- Max Current: ~30A (varies by model/prop)
- Shaft Size: ~3mm
- Mounting: Standard 16x19mm bolt pattern
- Direction: Forward or reverse (CW & CCW versions)
Applications:
- FPV racing drones (2”-5” frame)
- Mini quadcopters (250mm class)
- Lightweight fixed-wing aircraft (for high thrust-to-weight ratio)
- Multi-axis UAVs (quad/hex/octo)
Forward/Reverse Support:
- Motor direction is set by ESC wiring or software
- Swap any 2 of the 3 wires to reverse direction
- Most modern ESCs (like BLHeli_S or BLHeli_32) let you reverse in software
Recommended Propellers:
- 5x3 to 6x4.5 inch props depending on voltage and cooling
- Use CW/CCW matched pairs for quadcopter stability
Tips:
- Use a 20A–30A ESC with fast throttle response (e.g. BLHeli_S)
- Ensure motor mounts are tight and use threadlocker
- Check that propellers are balanced to avoid vibration
- For fixed-wing: best suited for pusher or tractor setups on small airframes
