$35.00
✅ What Is a VTX Module (Video Transmitter)?
A VTX (Video Transmitter) is an electronic module on an FPV drone that sends live video from the drone’s FPV camera to your FPV goggles or monitor.
🔧 How It Works
- FPV Camera → captures video
- VTX → converts and transmits video through radio frequency
- FPV Goggles/Receiver → receives and displays video in real time
📡 Key Features of a VTX
1. Output Power (mW)
Higher mW = longer range
25mW → short range / indoor / racing
200mW → medium range
400mW – 800mW → long range
1000mW+ → extreme long range
2. Frequesncy Bands
5.8GHz (most common, best for FPV)
2.4GHz / 1.3GHz (long range but bigger antennas)
3. Channels & Bands
VTX uses channels for video transmission, such as:
A, B, E, F, R, Raceband
4. Analog vs Digital
Analog VTX
✔ Low latency
✔ Cheap
✘ Lower image quality
Digital VTX (DJI, Walksnail, HDZero)
✔ HD image
✔ Strong signal
✘ Expensive
✘ Requires compatible goggles
🎥 What FPV Goggles Do
FPV goggles receive the signal from the VTX and show the video in real time.
Types of FPV Goggles:
1. Analog FPV Goggles
Examples: Skyzone, Fat Shark analog models
Works with analog VTX
Shows static / noise when signal drops
2. Digital FPV Goggles
Examples:
DJI Goggles 2
DJI FPV Goggles V2
Walksnail Avatar Goggles
HDZero Goggles
These work with digital VTX systems and give HD video.
🛠️ Popular VTX Modules
Analog
AKK FX2
Rush Tank Solo
TBS Unify Pro
SpeedyBee TX800
Digital
DJI O3 Air Unit
Walksnail Avatar V2 VTX
HDZero Freestyle VTX
📡 How to Connect VTX to FPV Goggles
Analog system:
Power VTX (5V or 9V depending on model)
Connect camera to VTX
Select channel/band by button or Betaflight
Set the same channel on goggles
Video appears in goggles
Digital system:
Bind the VTX to goggles (pairing)
Connect camera → VTX
Power → see HD video
🔋 Tips for Best Video Quality
✔ Use right antennas (RHCP, LHCP, Pagoda, Patch)
✔ Match antenna polarization
✔ Keep VTX cool
✔ Choose a clean channel for flight
✔ Higher mW for long range
